Matt meets Robot

Christina just sent an email with some pics. Apparently Nathan just got a robot with his lawn mowing money. The pics are of Matt meeting the robot... She thought he'd be scared but instead he just reached out to grab/play with it. I think he was probably thinking, "How in the world am I going to fit THIS into my mouth!"

Welcome Home!

Jimmy's home... and no, I'm not stopping the blog.... I just fell behind a little. So, here are some pics and videos to catch up... First, a pic of Jimmy with Matt outside. Welcome home!

Here's one of Matt with one of his favorite toys... the laptop. His other favorite toys are our cell phones, water bottles, plastic cups, and chip bags. Yep, forget the toys that actually cost money and are meant for babies... The really funny thing with the laptop is that Matt is really interested when the screensaver is on... because they are pictures of him and he's clearly the most conceited baby in the world. Just look at him... He's SO into himself. (He gets that from Jimmy.)

And here are a couple pics that Christina sent us. Her son, Nathan, plays the piano - and is really good (he doesn't even need the sheet music). Clearly Matt aspires to do the same...

And here are some videos too... First, this is one where I was trying to capture his laugh on video. He is pretty ticklish and was having such a good time after eating that I grabbed the camera and continued to play... It wasn't as good (darn kid must really be paranoid about being blackmailed later) but it's not horrible... You can see he's at least mildly amused...

And finally here's one of Matt getting super close to crawling. He was just trying so hard that it was funny and we had to take a video of it. It won't be long now before he's actually off and running...

Matt is really starting to be an active little booger... He's a real wiggler and it's getting harder to hold him at times. He no longer wants to just be held... he'd rather be standing or sitting or doing anything other than just relaxing in your arms. In addition, he's moving more and more while in seats... He was in his bouncy seat (not strapped in) and practically flung himself out in a single motion. And he's getting more curious. Yesterday while in his jumperoo he became extremely still, which caught my attention simply because that is now atypical for him. Unfortunately, the reason he was still was because he was really really really intrigued by something on the wall... the outlet. Yep, the boy has 'discovered' them and so I think it's officially time to child-proof the house.

What else? Although he's not crawling yet, he really does seem to be getting close. In fact, with the amount of distance he goes and how turned around he gets in his crib, I'm convinced he's crawling while in there and pretending he can't crawl during the day. Speaking of the crib - I just have to say that Matt is the happiest baby ever when he first wakes up - whether in the morning or from a nap. He is all smiles! I love it! I'll hear him waking on the monitor and he sometimes just talks to himself... and in the mornings it's nice because it's actually just talking and not yelling. :)

I think that's all the news for now. Now for the stuff you really come on here for... videos and pics... First, the video. This is one I shot this past weekend. Matt was supposed to be taking a nap but I heard him messing around in the crib so I decided to catch him doing whatever he was doing on camera. He was just having a conversation with his elephant... I thought it was cute how he smiled when he was busted...

And the pic(s)... Actually, only one pic of Matt this time... Jimmy's gonna kill me for posting this - but I HAD to do it... The first pic is one I snapped of Jimmy before he left. It cracked me up how he had fallen asleep on the couch with one leg completely up on the back of the couch....
So imagine how funny I thought it was when I looked over and saw Matt asleep on the couch in this (hilarious) position:

It scares me every time I'm reminded that I have a little Jimmy on my hands. SCARES me. :)

Playtime

Here are a couple videos of Matt playing... one in his jumperoo and one in his exersaucer. Note that he has gotten even more crazy in the jumperoo since I took this video just a few days ago. It's really funny to watch. (I hope these videos play ok... they're huge files...)

Long-awaited update and pics

It has been forever since I last posted... I was swamped and then left for a week (wedding and stats workshop). So I'm finally getting around to posting an update and some more photos. First as an update, Matt is doing fine. He's getting to be such a big boy. He rolls over much more now, is interested in everything, has started really grabbing hair (and cheeks and necks), is getting pretty darn close to crawling, and has started to actually jump in his jumperoo (video coming a little later). He currently has the hoarse voice again and is battling some mild constipation (turns out his two most recent foods, squash and carrots, are both somewhat constipating). But he's generally fine and hopefully today's prunes will help... That's pretty much the update... now for pics.
